DTEN Brings ONBoard and MEPro to InfoComm 2022

In Las Vegas for InfoComm 2022, AVNation’s Rich Fregosa is back with Scott Krueckberg, the Head of Strategic Alliances at DTEN. They’ve spoken about Scott’s organization as a whole, but here they dive into the different product offerings on display at the DTEN booth.

Two of those products are ONboard and ME Pro, which combine to create a use-case based solution for workspace reservations. In the past, workspace reservation has been an expensive area for organizations to enter into—licensing and hardware costs have traditionally been up to twenty times the cost of what DTEN and Zoom rooms can bring to customers today.

For its part, ONboard is used as a lobby touchscreen that displays a facility map of meeting and office spaces. The ME Pro acts as a personal workstation. Together with those products and Zoom, organizations can have a complete solution for workspace reservations.

When someone walks into an office with DTEN ONboard, they’ll see a map of both conference rooms and individual workstations, each color coded by availability. This includes flex spaces, hot desks, and more. After a user selects their space and time using a QR code, they’ll receive a confirmation both on their mobile device and on their ME Pro. Then, once a user gets to the station, they’ll confirm one more time—officially checking them in and logging them in to see their personal meetings, contacts, information, and more. They’ll set a personal PIN to keep their space secure for the day.

DTEN’s flagship product, the D7, has been optimized with DTEN partner Zoom over the past four years to create what Scott calls the best collaboration tool on the market. This is an all-in-one system that includes 16 microphones, a 4K camera, stereo speakers, and of course, a high-tech touchscreen available in two sizes. The system combines high performance and meeting equity for all meeting participants, no matter where they’re located. It also includes features like advanced cameras and multi-screen, a smart gallery experience in a Zoom room.

D7 supports Zoom’s latest tools such as advanced whiteboard, which powers collaboration among participants previously available to only those who were working together in person.

In Las Vegas for InfoComm 2022, AVNation’s Rich Fregosa is joined by Scott Krueckberg, the Head of Strategic Alliances at DTEN. Scott reflects on the buzz and excitement of being back in person on the show floor, especially given the face-to-face opportunities it presents for coworkers and consumers alike.

DTEN is unique in that throughout the pandemic, their products supported remote and hybrid work—so their team was equally, if not more, productive than ever. From product design to strategy and more, there was no shortage of tasks to accomplish, but a key part of their business development was still missing: relationships. Here at InfoComm, he’s excited to meet those who he’s spent many “meeting minutes” with but has never gotten to know in real life.

One of DTEN’s main goals is to be a complete platform vendor solution for hybrid work, remote work, and return to work. They strive to create products that support those setups, empowering inclusivity, meeting equity, and powerful collaboration tools no matter where customers are. All of their products deliver a high-quality experience regardless of location—they bring modern meeting technology right to a desk in your own home. This includes 4K meeting quality, advanced whiteboarding, content sharing, annotating, and other tools that ensure an improved employee experience from any and all flex spaces. More than just meeting equity, DTEN is committed to collaboration equity and ideation equity.

DTEN approaches its products a little differently than most in terms of use cases. Each of their tools can support a variety of tasks and company-wide needs, and consumers can choose among different sizes and models to complement their unique goals. Scott’s company is setting itself apart by changing the way we think about hybrid work and changing what we expect from the hybrid work environment.

  • Bridging the Gap Between Security and AV With AtlasIED’s IPX at InfoComm 2022

Bridging the Gap Between Security and AV With AtlasIED’s IPX at InfoComm 2022

    [bc_video video_id=”6307486692112″ account_id=”6090301008001″ player_id=”gC3LGGyv8″ embed=”in-page” padding_top=”56%” autoplay=”” min_width=”0px” playsinline=”” picture_in_picture=”” max_width=”640px” mute=”” width=”100%” height=”100%” aspect_ratio=”16:9″ sizing=”responsive” ]

Back on the InfoComm 2022 show floor in Las Vegas, AVNation’s Rich Fregosa is again joined by Michael Peveler, the Vice President of Sales at AtlasIED. They’ve already spoken about Atmosphere, but here they chat about a product that deserves its own conversation: IPX.

IPX is an audio and visual notification system used in mass communications. Unfortunately in today’s environment, we have a growing need for mass notifications, be it weather, health, or safety related. AtlasIED’s top selling model includes a built-in speaker, microphone, and scrollable screen, as well as a color changing flasher and an amplifier that connects with additional analog speakers—all which run using just one POE+ connection.

This product is often used in industrial and factory settings, schools, and now in the corporate space. Michael explains that IPX bridges the gap between security and AV, which is why AtlasIED does its best to showcase to resellers that customers will be buying this product one way or another. While people may initially think of mass notifications as a security system, at its core, IPX is a paging system. At the touch of a button, users can activate a full system. Whether it’s tied to a gunshot detection system or an access slot system, AtlasIED partners with Singlewire to offer a variety of notification options—meaning they can go to those in the facility, to mobile devices, to the authorities, and more.

AtlasIED is proud to offer IPX as a solution that gives consumers the notifications they need, when they need them. That said, they’re not the full solution. They partner with an ex-police and S.W.A.T. officer to meet with customers, going over best practices, additional necessary policies and precautions, and more ways to make use of the technology to ensure that students and staff are prepared to use it if and when the time comes. Michael and his team are passionate about making sure that fellow citizens of all ages remain safe in stressful situations in which people must act quickly.

The easy-to-use interface allows a number of people to be trained on IPX at once, so customers can be ready for worst case scenarios, but also utilize the product as a paging system on a daily basis. This is AtlasIED’s fastest growing product category due to high demand, so Michael’s role is to help integrators understand the high profile use-cases and evolving need for such an important piece of technology.

From the InfoComm 2022 show floor in Las Vegas, AVNation’s Rich Fregosa is joined by Michael Peveler, the Vice President of Sales at AtlasIED. Michael and his team are happy to be back for an in-person show in the States, especially as AtlasIED has several newly launched products in-stock and ready to ship.

One such product is Atmosphere, found at their booth, which is designed for hospitality and retail. Already being used by large gym and retail chains, AtlasIED’s latest firmware update offers something that many companies have been asking for: third party control, making Atmosphere compatible with the industry’s most well known control modules—Crestron, AMX, and Extron.

Atmosphere is designed for ease of use, and actually includes built-in training content solutions. These come in the form of two to three minute videos incorporated in the “Help” section, so installers in the field can avoid a phone call and instead watch the process up close.

The product is also built for a variety of interfaces depending on a customer’s needs and feedback. Its unique dashboard allows users to become their own help desk—though the software was originally intended for hospitality and retail, in 2020, school systems requested a bell scheduling capability to help replace aging PA systems. Because AltasIED has so much power built in from a hardware standpoint, they are able to adapt quickly and create new, original interfaces and features for consumers. From built-in WiFi to a full speaker layout, Atmosphere delivers an all-in-one design customized for users in a variety of industries.

Here at InfoComm 2022 in Las Vegas, AVNation’s Rich Fregosa is chatting with Brad Hintze, Crestron’s Executive Vice President of Marketing about some new—and possibly unprecedented—advances happening at Crestron this year.

About a month ago, Brad’s team announced a partnership with Mercedes, a company that also happens to be a customer of Crestron’s. Their tech is used for data tracking throughout the Mercedes headquarters, esports arena, and esports team. Now, with the power of NVX, Crestron and Mercedes are supporting esports like never before. Users now have the power, flexibility, and high-quality resolution they need to quickly adapt their video in real-time.

As is on display throughout the Crestron booth, NVX has countless use-cases and applications in the esports space, which is why it remains the leader in the AV-over-IP market. Crestron sees NVX as a constantly evolving part of the overall company ecosystem—it’s not just a black box, it’s a growing and improving piece of technology equipped to serve users across industries and interest groups. As the world moves forward, Crestron continues to invest in and improve upon NVX, making updates to the product itself as well as its compatible devices and programs to ensure the most secure, user-friendly experience possible.

Brad says that users can expect to see additional updates and innovative ideas in respect to NVX in the next six months to a year, leaving us with plenty to be excited about.

Back in Las Vegas at InfoComm 2022, AVNation’s Rich Fregosa is in conversation with Brad Hintze, Crestron’s Executive Vice President of Marketing. Since the last in-person show, Brad and his team at Crestron have taken a deep dive into meeting equity, its growing importance, and innovated opportunities to attain it.

With that in mind, one of their focuses over the past year has been ensuring that everybody has an excellent audiovisual experience—one that is optimized for whatever role they play on the team, and whether they’re a remote participant or in the meeting room itself. In combining existing Crestron technologies—intelligent cameras, flex video conferencing, integration and networking with other brands, and more—they have created Sightline, an experience that benefits everyone involved.

While a lot of the industry has been focused on the role that remote team members play and the technology that suits them, Crestron has found a way to incorporate those on both ends of the hybrid model. Today’s meeting spaces still often need to accommodate many people, and small solutions won’t necessarily cut it. Brad considers Sightline a starting point, noting that the modern technology landscape calls for constant innovation, and also leaving room for customers and partners to change and evolve these offerings to meet their unique needs.

Brad acknowledges that while some may be hesitant to explore such new and sophisticated tech, Sightline offers a concrete visual of a hybrid setup that’s working, and working smoothly. The team at Crestron personally tested their designs, improving them time and time again after experiencing setbacks and challenges that could only be found through trial and error. Sightline is not a vision for the future—it’s happening right now. Designs and details are available on their website.

For more content and information about Brad’s team, visit Crestron’s website here. You can also find them on social media, @Crestron.

AVNation’s Rich Fregosa is back with another interview from InfoComm 2022 in Las Vegas, this time with Brad Hintze, Crestron’s Executive Vice President of Marketing. Brad and his coworkers are very excited to be back, not only to see their large team in person, but also to connect with their partners and customers on a more human level.

Crestron has launched a number of intelligent video products since the last in-person InfoComm event, and users at the show and around the globe are more than ready to try them out. Crestron has been focused on the meeting room space for more than fifty years, and as businesses continue to transition into a more hybrid working model, Brad explains a few of the countless reasons why they need intelligent cameras to keep users engaged in meetings no matter where they are. In addition to encouraging participation, their multi-camera angle innovations improve meeting equity—this way, every member of the team has the access and opportunities they need to contribute to any project or discussion.

In the past year, Crestron has observed the need for this more sophisticated meeting technology, leading them to acquire relevant domains that both set the company up for the future as well as fit into the overall company ecosystem. They are investing heavily into the hardware and software that best facilitates remote and hybrid video collaboration for partners, customers, and individual users alike. Their Sightline experience booth at InfoComm 2022 gives visitors the option to explore both the in-person and remote end-user view of their tech portfolio, engaging those on both ends of the hybrid working model.

For more content and information about Brad’s team, visit Crestron’s website here. You can also find them on social media, @Crestron.

  • Remote Support With Care by Level 3 at InfoComm 2022

Remote Support With Care by Level 3 at InfoComm 2022

    [bc_video video_id=”6307481491112″ account_id=”6090301008001″ player_id=”gC3LGGyv8″ embed=”in-page” padding_top=”56%” autoplay=”” min_width=”0px” playsinline=”” picture_in_picture=”” max_width=”640px” mute=”” width=”100%” height=”100%” aspect_ratio=”16:9″ sizing=”responsive” ]

From InfoComm 2022 in Las Vegas, AVNation’s Bradford Benn interviews Frederick Loucks, fellow theatre major and CTO of Level 3. His position makes him responsible for the company’s technology vision and execution.

Since the onset of COVID-19, Level 3 has been focused on improving the post-sale experience for consumers. As users have grown more accustomed to audiovisual technology through remote and hybrid working models, many devices haven’t received the love—think upkeep and updates—that they need to keep offices running seamlessly. Level 3 looks into how to enable more secure remote access, more remote monitoring and management, and more utilization of software in such a hardware-minded landscape.

Frederick speaks to the need for innovation when it comes to remote access. The current model can be risky—instead, his company has found ways to secure the process by granting access to only the people that need it, and only at the times they need it. These new standards match a more modern set of security requirements important to keeping their tech and the information it holds safe from cyber attacks.

Given that Level 3’s team collaborates with large companies with strict, existing security guidelines, it’s their responsibility to create efficient ways to solve problems—and jump through the necessary hoops in the process. Remote access is the best way to make that happen. They focus on a zero-trust and just-in-time approach to ensure that security breaches observed in the industry over the past few years are not repeated.

Frederick’s stance is that you have to meet the industry where it is. So, this zero-trust policy only goes as far as an organization’s trusted boundary, which is best practice in the industry. To make this trusted boundary safe and secure, Level 3 encourages segmentation within these organizations, making each trusted boundary as small as possible in the context of each individual company and its needs. This way, if one device is infected, only neighboring devices will be impacted—not the entire organization.

As customers continue to be concerned about the security of remote access, Level 3 remains committed to serving these needs as best as it can.

Hybrid Solution at the Touch of A Button with Epiphan at InfoComm 2022

    [bc_video video_id=”6307481303112″ account_id=”6090301008001″ player_id=”gC3LGGyv8″ embed=”in-page” padding_top=”56%” autoplay=”” min_width=”0px” playsinline=”” picture_in_picture=”” max_width=”640px” mute=”” width=”100%” height=”100%” aspect_ratio=”16:9″ sizing=”responsive” ]

On the first day of InfoComm 2022, AVNation’s Rich Fregosa talks to Tobi Tungl, Epiphan’s Chief Happiness Slayer. Now that we’re finally back in-person at InfoComm (and for some, meeting co-workers for the first time), this is an excellent opportunity to connect on the industry’s latest and greatest.

Tobi tells us that Epiphan is all about disrupting the way that people experience video technology, and innovating ways to do it better. One such example is the Pearl line, which includes Pearl 2, Pearl Mini, and Pearl Nano. As more and more offices have grown accustomed to hybrid work, they’ve seen a huge push for video conferencing technology that meets the needs of users in the office, at home, and everywhere else.

The Pearl Nano is their baseline model, built for remote executive kits. The Pearl Mini, on the other hand, has been a global success in higher education. It comes complete with a touch screen, simple enough for professors and other educators to start on their own without the help of an IT or AV expert. The third product, Pearl 2, is one step up—think multi-camera, multi-content, multi-video needs. Medical facilities, financial institutions, and other organizations with higher volume content creation are most likely to benefit from this device. At Epiphan, pros are happy to help clients decide where their needs fit in respect to the Pearl models, and Tobi also notes that there are many opportunities to scale as needs evolve or change. An additional upside to these devices is the shipment time—after ordering, users can often have one in their hands only 48 hours later.

He also informs us about the all-new AV.io, Epiphan’s latest frame grabber that’s available in three models: 4K, SDI, and HD. Depending on a user’s specific needs, this variety presents an ideal option for all those who regularly create and share video content. These portable, lightweight USB video grabbers for HD video capture are officially shipping beginning in September.

Check out Epiphan’s website here, or follow along with their innovations on social media at @epiphanvideo.

  • Keeping Secure with Level 3 at InfoComm 2022

Keeping Secure with Level 3 at InfoComm 2022

    [bc_video video_id=”6307482445112″ account_id=”6090301008001″ player_id=”gC3LGGyv8″ embed=”in-page” padding_top=”56%” autoplay=”” min_width=”0px” playsinline=”” picture_in_picture=”” max_width=”640px” mute=”” width=”100%” height=”100%” aspect_ratio=”16:9″ sizing=”responsive” ]

To kick off InfoComm 2022, AVNation’s Bradford Benn speaks to Cyber Security Architect Paul Konikowski about the AV and IT integrated solutions at Level 3. In the age of B.Y.O.D. (Bring Your Own Device), hybrid, remote, and in-person offices alike are further prioritizing the security and integrity of the technology they use. While other companies may be hesitant to make changes to the processes of the past, Level 3 is committed to adapting to the evolving landscape—even facilitating discussions with clients about their particular ongoing needs.

Moving forward, Level 3 is interested in collaborating with other integrators to ensure the best, most up-to-date solutions for clients across the board—Paul believes that security by obscurity doesn’t work. Instead, to avoid worst-case scenarios like zero-day vulnerabilities, he is open to sharing the codes and strategies that best protect users. Though some thorough documents do exist, they’re often lost behind paywalls that result in an inaccessibility issue that the industry can’t afford.

For his part, Paul juggles his professional work with bettering the industry as a whole by spreading information on frequently misunderstood technology concepts. For example, he explains the difference between network security and cyber security: While network security is important, it’s only a small subset of cyber security. He takes a human-first approach to cyber security, as most hacks and attacks come from human error. He’s a strong supporter of teaching individual members of a company the basics of cyber security, including password tips, dos and don’ts, and common red flags, as well as educating them about what to do if and when there is a security breach. It’s essential for users to know that cyber hacks aren’t necessarily (or even usually) technical—often they can be accomplished with a few inexpensive Amazon products. Once people fully understand what they are securing their devices against, the more simple is to fight off potential risks.

While Paul and his company already work off of several sets of industry security standards, he talks about ultimately bringing together a larger security council to create a more unified set of guidelines for the benefit of all involved.

To hear more from Paul Konikowski, find him online and on social media @pkaudiovisual. For more information about his company, Level 3 AV, visit their website here.
