As part of our coverage for CEDIA Expo 2021, Tim Albright sits co-CEO of CEDIA Giles Sutton. The co-CEO discusses what CEDIA has been working on this year and their goals for the end of the year.

CEDIA, as a brand, has focused on professional development, education, and more advanced certifications for its members throughout the year.

“We’ve really been focused on developing more certifications for integrators. We’ve got an advanced level certification called the IST [Integrated Systems Technician] certification which is our more advanced technical certification that is in beta form,” Sutton said. They are working to bring more education to the local level, technicians and integrators more technical training.

When looking towards the next few months, Sutton sees the rise of new trends becoming more prevalent, including wellness technology. “Homeowners are starting to recognize the need to have air filtration and human-centric lighting. Integrators need more guidance on how to have those conversations with homeowners and where to get the equipment from to make it happen,” Giles Sutton said.
